CLASSES IN 2026:

NEXT “WRITE YOUR SITCOM PILOT!” - SEPTEMBER 16

Every great comedy series starts with a single, undeniable voice. What’s yours? This dynamic 8-week course guides you step-by-step from the spark of an idea to a fully structured sitcom pilot script.

We’ll explore what makes some legendary comedy worlds tick (also tock!), dissecting hit shows for the important stuff: world, characters, conflict, stakes, scene work, pacing, jokes, and story. I’ll share some tools I have found useful in the pilot process (and just the regular old script process) over the years. You’ll use those to develop a foundation for your script, and then work on making the script bulletproof.

Best of all, you’ll experience what it’s like to be in a writers’ room: pitching and table-reading stories, beats, and scenes with a supportive group of peers. You’ll gain the confidence and momentum to finish your pilot and get your unique sense of humor onto the page.

Plus, after our 8 classes wrap up, we'll cap it off with a private 30-minute 1-on-1 meeting where we analyze and evaluate your complete draft together.

  • 8 2.5 hour sessions (ON ZOOM), plus final one-on-one with me (30 minutes).

  • Max 8 Students

  • $650

  • Wednesdays- Sept. 16, 23, 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov. 4; 1-on-1 Meeting week of Nov. 16

  • 6-8:30 PM PST

This class made me a better writer. This class helped me get a job writing for television.
— Ed Herro, Executive Producer, THE STICKY (Amazon)
A great class that will teach you the ins and outs of breaking a story, and will give you a lot of tools to help you as a professional writer. Sean’s patient, hilarious, and very smart— you’ll leave his class knowing more and well on your way to a good spec script too if you put in the work. Take this class, it will help. Also, free soda!
— Brian Donovan, Producer, AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE (ABC)
Years of teaching and performing improv undoubtedly transfer over to Sean’s ability to drive story, keep it structured, all while keeping the writers in the room laughing their asses off. He brings a great energy to a room, and keeps it on track.
— Dave Stewart, Co-Creator, Executive Producer, MR. PICKLES (ADULT SWIM)
(Sean) effortlessly provides the space for your vision and words to find the most dynamic, interesting structure for your story. My background is playwriting but Sean helped demystify the often painstaking process of creating the most succinct, funny, compelling story collage. I have also leaned on Sean for help with pitches and that has been some of the most valuable time I’ve spent in this town. In fact, I sold a comedy pilot to Showtime largely because of Sean’s expert guidance and his famous ‘golden notes’
— Fielding Edlow, Writer, COKE-FREE J.A.P (Best of Fringe)
I’ve been in several writers rooms with Sean Conroy. He is that magical mix of a writer who can adeptly identify story or character problems in a script and masterfully fix them, while also being one of the funniest people in any room. If I could have taken a class with Sean and partaken of his intuition and wisdom when I started it would have put me years ahead of other beginners.
— Andrew Secunda, Executive Producer, SCHOOLED (ABC), THE GOLDBERGS (ABC)
Taking Sean’s class was probably the best thing I’ve ever done for my career. Seriously. I went from being a funny guy who was solid at writing jokes to being a funny guy who is now able to write a complete TV script. The techniques that I learned from him gave me the skills and confidence to take my ideas to the next level and make money as a writer. He is THE G.O.A.T.
— Gerald Grisette, creator/writer of ALL DOG$ GET MONEY on Snapchat.
What makes Sean such a great comic comes from years of performing, but what makes him such a great writer comes from also having such an in depth understanding of story structure. In the writer’s room, Sean knows how to make a joke that’s not only funny, but also works to serve a story. Also, Sean taught me what the word ‘guffaw’ means.
— Will Carsola, Co-Creator, Executive Producer, MR. PICKLES (ADULT SWIM)
